Lasse Skovgaard has a penchant for transforming classic shapes into beautifully unique, contemporary Danish forms — often merging aspects from a number of different shapes and styles to create something all his own. Whether you view it as a more organic Rhodesian or a playful take on the Scoop, there's no denying this Freehand is definitely one of those creative hybrids. The oval shank flows nicely into the robust form of the bowl, which itself has been pinched along the flanks to elongated the form from fore to aft. The undulating, wave-like line around the high-set waist offers a playful touch, while mirroring the sinuous S-curve of the shank and stem for overall visual balance. That wave theme is applied to the finish as well, as Lasse's crisp sandblast brings out layer after layer of undulating growth rings.
