About This Pipe

When it comes to Lasse Skovgaard's Dublin shapes, we've seen everything from sweeping Horn-like renditions to broad-shouldered Acorn-like forms, to more Cherrywood-like sitter shapes. Simply put, Lasse's creativity and eye for grain patterns mandates that every iteration be slightly different from the next — leaving behind an eclectic collection of beautiful, Danish designs.

In this example, we're presented with a gorgeous marriage of forms and styles. Here Lasse Skovgaard has taken a fairly straightforward Dublin shape and transformed it through his use of flicking, cresting wave-like lines along the aft and flared shank end — pinching the flanks to create an oval-shaped rim, which itself has been polished smooth and domed in an iconic Calabash style. Keeping to some rather compact proportions overall, the result is a dynamic form that feels right at home in hand, and again, Lasse's keen eye for grain patterns is well on display here — orienting the block so that the growth rings ripple up from the base, undulating up to the sea of birdseye covering the rim.
