Sandblasted Canoe Tobacco Pipe

Inspired by fellow pipe artisan Brad Pohlmann, Silver Gray joined the industry after years of working in accounting. Though she started by using briar scraps and discarded stummels, she's now considered one of America's most talented pipe artisans with a wide portfolio of unique pieces to boast. The Canoe is one of Gray's signature shapes and a silhouette that combines organicism with impressive line work, as seen in this piece. Reminiscent of old school Opera designs, this bowl is condensed, informed by dual ridgelines across the fore and aft walls. The fore wall is rounded, bringing to mind the outline of a canoe, and the rim is lenticular, offering an element of angularity to the otherwise soft pipe. The aft wall's ridgeline continues past the transition and through the shank, coming to a subtle point at the shoulders of a vulcanite saddle stem. Said stem is an amalgamation of swirling hues, juxtaposing the earthy sandblast seen across the stummel, offering ample texture and highlighting impressive growth rings throughout.
