About This Pipe
Michael Butera has been crafting pipes since the '70s, and he has trained many of today's well-known American artisans, including Larry Roush, Steve Weiner, and Michael Frey. Since he produces a limited number of pipes, estate offerings from Butera are a rare treat for collectors, making this bent Billiard a real catch.
With a chamber depth of over two inches, the bowl offers plenty of space for a choice blend, making this offering well-suited for longer smoking sessions. The high-kicking shank and deeply bent saddle stem aid in a relaxed smoking posture, and the thick walls of the tall, muscular bowl offer a reassuring in-hand presence. The stummel has been treated to an incredibly craggy sandblast, with only the rim, nomenclature panel, and a slim band near the junction left smooth for a few subtle pops of contrast.
