About This Pipe
Silver Gray got her start carving simple hearts from scraps of briar, and this pipe may be a nod to that. A slight raise in its rim along each flank creates a faint heart silhouette from the smoker's view, while also creating a wide, plump bowl that fits in hand naturally. A low-set transition leaves plenty of space for the thumb to rest along the bowl's rear, while the broad shank turns upward, flaring to its end, for a dynamic and forward-thrusting profile. This is a piece packed with details as well, from a neatly sandblasted rim, to craggy plateau left on the underside of the shank, as well as a warm contrast stain that highlights tightly-packed birdseye across the bowl's fore. When compared to the ornamental hearts she once made, it's clear Silver Gray has come a long way, though hasn't lost sight of where she began.
