About This Pipe
In something of a modern homage to clay pipes of old, American carver Scottie Piersel definitely seems to have a penchant for these elongated, pencil-shanked takes on the classics. Though certainly calling to mind the profile of an old school Cutty or Belge, this piece foregoes the common Egg-like bowl in favor of the beadline-adorned, poised form of a Rhodesian. A stacked display of ring-grain climbs all flanks, terminating in a neatly-chamfered rim gently kissed with smoth polish. Finished in a warm, terracotta sandblast, Scottie set a neat, powder-blue tapered stem at the end of the long, trim shank, lined with stainless steel and joined by a reverse-tenon arrangement.
