Sandblasted Bent Apple Tobacco Pipe

When it comes to his bent Apple shapes, Scott Klein seems to like experimenting with the old Ivarsson teardrop theme. Just looking through our archives, nearly every one of his rounded bowl forms (be they Brandys, Apples, Tomatoes, or Acorns) has featured some sort of exaggerated teardrop shank. This particular bent Apple is something of an outlier, then, Scott having opted for a D-shaped shank with the underside faced off into a flattened plane, running from the shank end all the way through to the base of the bowl. Much like those teardrop lines, it works to accentuate the tight-knit, curling gesture of the silhouette nicely, yet also offers a more practical benefit. It sits, and quite well I might add, with the rust-colored cumberland bit kicked high in the air. Scott's coaxed a whole lot of blasted grain out of this one, too. Recommended.
