About This Pipe

This isn't the first time we've received a "Speeding" Dublin shape from Scott Klein, but to claim that this latest interpretation is a mere iteration would be just fallacious. Simply put, Scott has completely redefined the form here, substituting a more drawn out aesthetic for something much stouter and tight-knit. It certainly maintains its evocative attributes, however, with the concave bevel to the fore, the bold, crisp heel, and the upward-flicking shank all implying a lot of forward momentum in profile — still seemingly "speeding" forward, if you will, as it rests on a flat surface. What Scott's done, then, is abbreviate the form, compressing it from rim to button to achieve an even more powerful, more muscular aesthetic in profile. It's this balance of muscularity and dynamic lines that set this latest rendition apart. Given my fondness for compact, yet utterly stout compositions, it's a configuration I certainly hope we see from Scott again soon.
