Autograph Smooth Acorn (8) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

Savinelli's Autograph series features limited-production, handmade pipes from the Italian marque, with stummels of specially aged briar that are turned by the workshop's three most experienced carvers. This series allows the artisans to deviate from the marque's typical shape chart, resulting in striking, one-of-a-kind interpretations of classic shapes — this Acorn included.

The pronounced forward tilt of this Acorn's plump bowl is further dramatized by the stretched fore, while the aft of the bowl remains more tightly knit, leading into a swift, parabolic transition. The shank rises at an angle from said transition, and takes on an asymmetrical flare as it joins the stylized stem, which features curled, flaring shoulders and a plump expansion ring for a pleasing and whimsical sense of visual rhythm. Though this is a more abstract take on the traditional silhouette, this Acorn's inflated rim, tapering heel, and elegant asymmetry retain the shape's inherently organic essence. Dressed in a light, smooth finish, the briar showcases a wealth of gorgeous grain that's every bit as mesmerizing as the stummel's shaping.
