About This Pipe
Inspired by the clay pipes of yesteryear, the Belge shape is a brother to the Cutty, just as forward-thrust of bowl and sleek of shank, but lacking the signature spur of the Cutty design. This one comes to us from Sam Adebayo, an American carver working out of Nashville. Here, the carver's use of a bright aquamarine vintage bakelite stem has a twofold effect; it adds a dash of stunning color in juxtaposition to the jet-black stummel. The low-profile sandblast is nothing to scoff at either, neatly showing off a centered cross-cut grain pattern, with birdseye across both flanks. As a whole, the pipe is a study in classic proportions and subtle details, with the result being a standout amongst the pieces we've seen.
