Rusticated Bent Apple Sitter with Camel Bone Tobacco Pipe

Mike Sebastian Bay started with a simple task, find someone to repair his father's old pipes. He ended up in Tom Eltang's workshop. Learning firsthand from one of Denmark's foremost masters, Bay learned how to shape, drill, engineer, and finish pipes, even being given Eltang's blessing to use his signature rustication. Bay's aesthetic is one steeped in Danish tradition, which he readily embraces.

Offering a graceful and functional combination, this bent Apple Sitter by Mike Sebastian Bay offers the plump curvature of an Apple while a flattened underside makes this piece a stable Sitter. Although the flattened underside is readily visible in profile, from most angles it is well disguised, a deft engineering touch from Bay. Furthermore, the ovoid shank and stem present a subtle sinuous bend along their short length, imbuing this piece with muscularity while retaining its status as a Nosewarmer. Additionally, the stummel is dressed in Bay's rendition of Eltang's iconic rustication, the rugged texture showcasing a bright, blonde stain that also features on the smooth rim. These warm colors are contrasted by the dark striations of the cumberland stem, which features a band of camel bone near the base for a striking, yet understated, flourish.
