About This Pipe
Luiz Lavos began his pipe-making journey in São Paulo, Brazil, inspired by time spent in his grandfather's woodworking shop. With a background in graphic design, he combines artisticness with skilled craftsmanship, and his style blends classic Danish influence with a bold sensibility that's distinctly his own.
Another example of Lavos' design sensibility, this bent Apple features a low-slung profile and a well-canted bowl that imbues the shape with an elegant, elliptical curve. The bowl rests on a lifted heel, its squat form fitting comfortably in the hand, while rippling growth rings streak along the flanks. A low-set shank continues the pipe's horizontal orientation before flaring into a sleek saddle stem, with the base crafted from vibrant white Ivorite and the bit from dark vulcanite. The stummel is finished in a light sandblast and stained a rich ruby hue, highlighting stacked growth rings and patches of birdseye throughout.
