Sandblasted Nefertiti with Pataua Tobacco Pipe

Luis Lavos is a Brazilian artisan whose work comprises a broad stylistic range primarily centered around fine works of Danish classicism, often presented alongside understated accents. This Nefertiti is a good example of Lavos' work, and it's possessed of an especially lean, sender character that affords the composition an impressively light weight and a bowl-forward sense of visual weight. The transition is wide, and it gives way to a long, extended shank whose round stretch of briar tapers gently toward the stem base, further enhancing the presence of the bowl. Said stem is a trim, sleek saddle of black vulcanite, and its base showcases a subtle expansion ring near the bit that highlights a broad accent of Pataua seed inlaid into its surface. Up front, the bowl stands on a pronounced heel, one even more pronounced than in other renditions of this shape, and it grows tall, flaring walls that expand out toward a domed, smooth-finished rim. There's an understated curvature to these walls that ensures the feel in hand is comfortable, and they hold a capacious chamber to ensure smoking is leisurely and enjoyable. The stummel is dressed in a crisp, earthy sandblast, one that showcases handsome grain throughout, with rippling ring grain cascading down the walls of the bowl and some swirling birdseye across the smooth-finished rim.
