About This Pipe

This bent Apple demonstrates Ken Dederichs' love for organic forms and his creative fusion of German and Danish styles. The bowl is plump and set with an angular disposition in relation to the shank, and displays a forward cant, contributing to a visual impression of forward momentum. The curvature of the bowl contributes to that impression, its near flank more rotund than the far flank and bringing the perceived center of mass forward and above the transition. That transition is a defining element for this pipe, the curvature of the bowl providing an angular aesthetic. The shank extends from that point in a slight upward curve terminated by a pale accent of boxwood, while the saddle stem offers an almost subliminal balancing downward turn. The grain is exceptional, angled across the bowl in a contrast stain delineating each individual tendril. Light and practical in addition to reflecting exceptional craftsmanship this is a pipe worthy of a favored place in any pipe cabinet.
