Kai Nielsen, son of Viggo Nielsen, founder of the Bari pipe factory, entered the world of pipe making in his teen years when he began working part-time at his father's factory. At the age of 21, he became a full-time employee — but that was just the beginning. Today, after years of honing his craft, he boasts an impressive portfolio and is known for his refined, classically Danish carving style.

This bent Dublin is one of the latest offerings from the artisan, and it certainly showcases his refined carving style. The bowl is on the trim side, with a subtle, organically asymmetrical flare. The fore of the bowl protrudes further than the aft side, urging forward to greet the palm and continuing the fluid momentum established by the shank-and-stem arrangement. The junction between shank and stem is decorated with a pale accent band that stands out against the stummel's otherwise rich, dark color palette. Rendered in practical, compact proportions, this offering is well-suited for travel and general on-the-go smoking, and with its Jewel Of Denmark grade at the "B" level, it boasts stunning grain throughout.
