Smooth Blowfish with Ivorite (Cardinal) (A20) (04) Tobacco Pipe

The slightly scalloped rim of this Blowfish from Jody Davis emphasizes a low demeanor for the bowl. The shank is sturdy and meticulously structured with crisp ridgelines, and expands slightly as it reaches to the pale Ivorite accent. It's in this area that well-defined contrast of shape is most prominent, the single, round expansion ring at the base of the stem in close proximity to the asymmetric hexagonal shank and fitment for a juxtaposition of geometry that will keep one fascinated and impressed.

Birdseye grain dominates the left and right flanks, which slightly bulge outward within their carefully defined perimeters. The rim is also elevated by ridgelines, here oriented with a crisp line running longitudinally across the top of the bowl and continued along the base. Although it's a smooth piece, it provides plentiful tactile experiences with its multiple ridgelines, avid visual interest with its unique shaping and spectacular grain, and, because it's from Jody Davis, excellent smoking properties with its precise engineering.
