Sandblasted Meerschaum Bent Dublin with Box Elder Tobacco Pipe

Meerschaum has been difficult for artisanal pipemakers to acess for a long time, despite its appeal to smokers. A durable, heat-resistant material that colors with time and use, it's one that has proven incredibly popular. This Gabriele dal Fiume piece is one of very few meerschaum pieces to come out of Italy, therefore, and one of only a handful Gabriele himself has made. As far as shaping, it maintains that style that we've come to associate with Gabriele, with a Danish sense of structure and flow, including a lifting heel and teardrop lines on either side of the shank, as well as fairly compact proportions overall. He's accented it with a mount of pale, dark-grained box elder and a cumberland stem, and finished the piece in a lesser-seen sandblasted texture that is undeniably difficult to achieve with meerschaum. On top of its compact proportions, it's also a lightweight piece, and is sure to develop a charming patina with time.
