About This Pipe
Normally when it comes to a sitter with a style that evoke images of natural forms, the first shape I would think is the Cherrywood. It is after all a shape that derives its name from cherry wood pipes, which are commonly fashioned from where a branch and twig fork and so take on that natural form. This Gabriele however is a Poker, sporting a perpendicular relationship between bowl and shank. In the classic Poker that usually means just a plain straight pipe, which rests with the shank and stem flat. Gabriele nonetheless has turned the Poker into something very organic in style, through a long, easy bend of the bowl's lines, an extended foot, and a delicate transition and flare of the shank.
