About This Pipe
I'd classify this Apple as one of Gabriele's more restrained designs. The proportions are compact, but not nearly as tight-knit as, say, some of his Eggs or Acorns that feature very deep transitions, and with only a modest bit of asymmetrical flourish found in the cross-section of the shank. One adjective I would precede with "very" in describing it, though, is smooth. From the continuous curve of the underside, heel, and forward face, to the long roll of the rim, to the rather plump flanks, this is definitely a shape that allows the eye to just glide along, and one that rests very gently in hand as well.
