Smooth Apple with Silver Tobacco Pipe

A plumper, more spherical rendition of the Apple shape, this gorgeous Danish classic really showcases Hans "Former" Nielsen's "cheekier" style, using a well-defined transition to create full, pronounced cheeks to either flank. Such a form works so well with the leaner shaping of the shank and stem, softened even further by Former's def handling of the bullet-nose sterling silver accent. Overall, it's a more diminutive number from the Danish artisan; while much of Hans' work merges stout muscularity with smooth Danish lines, this example is quite restrained, measuring just over five inches from end to end and weighing approximately 33 grams. Finished in a warm walnut contrast stain, with a heavy gloss, it also happens to highlight some downright impressive flame grain engulfing the bowl.
