About This Pipe
While maintaining a fairly modest length overall, Hans "Former" Nielsen still managed to pack in plenty of his signature stoutness, and elegant use of line, as possible into this beautiful bent Apple. The muscular proportions of the bowl itself, paired with the subtle forward cant and sweeping line along the underside, lend it a powerful aesthetic in profile — a power and dynamism complemented well by this block's choice grain pattern. Former always pays very close attention to grain orientation, and suffice to say, this piece's flame pattern is nothing short of extraordinary.
