Smooth Bent Dublin with Horn Tobacco Pipe

When it comes to fluid, deeply-bent shapes, this is one of the more dramatic I've seen from Tom Eltang. The steep taper of the bowl and its upward thrust create a solid fore, while the line of shank and stem is allowed to be sinuous and flowing behind, neatly balancing the piece, and ensuring not only a comfortable feel in hand, but in the teeth as well. Most impressive here might be the grain, with long streaks of flame around the bowl, as well as a sea of birdseye, all highlighted in Tom's signature contrast, and accented by a band of horn for a hint of organic charm. It's one of those pieces that really shows off Tom's skill, highlighting both his ability to trim a shape to its most essential elements, as well as his ability to ensure that each element is executed with precision.
