About This Pipe
Somewhat of a departure from his signature Bulldog/Rhodesian designs, this Rhodesian rendition is refreshingly unique piece from Max Rimensi of Il Duca, yet still employs many of his conventional shaping cues. Like his signature shape, this piece features the same elegantly sinuous S-curve through the shank and stem, with the bowl being similarly squat and the transition neatly tucked. Where this piece differs, though, is mainly in the proportions and bowl shape — the shank and stem being quite slender and lacking any sort of flare into the transition, while the bowl is defined by a more rounded ridgeline and taper and a more Saucer-like feel in hand. Dressed in a walnut contrast stain, there's an impressive show of grain all around, and the light and dark hues of the finish pair perfectly with those of the horn mount at the shank end.
