Fluidity and posture are important factors in Benni Jørgensen's craftsmanship, as is easily recognized in this flowing bent Billiard-ish Freehand, which is Swan-graded and celebrates Benni's 40th year as a pipe maker. Most noticeable is the stylistic "wing" extending from the forward bowl and flanks, contributing to the implied forward momentum of the pipe while also providing multiple comfortable opportunities for holding it in hand. Additionally, the end of the shank flares dramatically into a wide, domed, smooth and well-grained end for the push-style stem to attach. The sandblast is medium deep, beautifully oriented and consistent, while the scalloped rim is smooth to echo the smooth briar at the end of the shank.
