About This Pipe
Chris Askwith has made a few of these Devil Anse shapes before, though this petite number I find particularly interesting. Pairing jet-black morta, lightly sandblasted to reveal its striking grain patterns, with a briar stem, it presents a combination of old and new styles in a simple, inviting presentation. And with a size that's easy to slip into a jacket pocket, it's a piece that does all of those things and nothing more — a minimalist design that makes its emphasis, in a way, through the lack of accouterments.
