Sandblasted Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

Chris Askwith's pipes are probably the most non-English pieces ever to come out of England. His approach to pipemaking is one of pushing the boundaries of classic shaping and color cues, looking to the pipe chart more as inspiration than as a stencil to be followed with exactness. In the case of this Dublin, the slender shank and tall, flared, forward canted bowl are Danish in influence, yet with perhaps a more pronounced lip to the rim at the fore. In conventional Askwith fashion, the lightly stained stummel has been paired to a contrasting, bright blue acrylic stem, yet even such a striking color palette isn't enough to take away from the tongues of grain apparent underneath the subtle sandblast.
