With such a broad range of shapes and styles, it's surprising to see we haven't appeared to receive a Volcano rendition from Chris Askwith prior to this one. Forward-inclined of gesture and poised as a sitter shape, this fellow is one of those desk pipes that just steals attention from the moment you set it on a surface, with wavy rings of the jet-black oak's blasted ring-grain climbing all around the bowl and a mount of creamy polyester to complement. There's a neat, squarely-proportioned bit of chamber within, framed by a crisply chamfered rim, practically beckoning to be loaded. Quite a cool piece.
