About This Pipe
Eager to become part of the pipe making process, Bill Ashton-Taylor started working as an apprentice at Dunhill in 1959 when he was only 15 years old. With a burning passion and a high standard for quality pipe making, he would go on to found the Ashton marque, whose legacy has been carried on by Jimmy Craig since Bill's passing in 2009. This "LX" Canadian from Ashton showcases the refined shaping style that Bill Ashton-Taylor would pick up from his time at Dunhill, presenting the shape's classic proportions at a greater scale. The bowl stands tall and firm, with straight walls rising from the heel toward the flat rim. Transitioning from the bowl is an elongated oval shank that's punctuated by an abbreviated tapered stem, the arrangement completing the iconic silhouette. The stummel wears Ashton's Pebble Grain sandblast, granting this piece a dark, rugged complexion, while the silver accent along the junction adds the perfect touch of flash.
