About This Pipe

Organic and sinuous, with broad, sweeping curves in profile and precise shaping from above and below, this J. Alan Tulip is a delight in the hand and a visual feast from every angle. As is common with Jeff's pipes, the details in the craftsmanship propel this pipe into a higher level. The shank expands toward the mouthpiece, terminating in an Ivorite ring, which is striated and toned like real ivory. It's the only faux ivory that Jeff has been impressed enough by to use. A crisp but subtle ridge runs along the bottom right of the shank and up onto the near side of the bowl all the way to the rim. The rim is plateau, stained black, with an inner rim of chamfered smooth surface. A light contrast stain pulls the grain from the stummel and imbues it with a liveliness not often seen, running around the circumference of the bowl in consistent vertical orientation. With a slight bend for excellent balance, this special piece will fuel your fascination well into the future.
