About This Pipe
Micah "Yeti" Cryder is known for his highly stylized pipes, many of which take the form of flared shapes with a degree of implied momentum. Such is the case with this Acorn, which sees a gently flared bowl posed at the fore of a high-reaching shank and a subtly bent saddle stem. The bowl here is quite unique, possessing a rather squat frame that rests atop a lifted heel. This heel thrusts the bowl outward into visual prominence and imbues the totality of the form with a dynamic forward drive that's accentuated by the sweeping posture of the shank-and-stem arrangement. Additionally, the shank-and-stem arrangement provides a gestural curvature to the shape and balances the muscular bowl, all while promoting a comfortable smoking posture. A crisp, terracotta-hued sandblast dresses the ensemble and highlights rugged grain across the briar's surface, while an accent of boxelder adorns the junction and provides further warmth to the pipe's color palette.
