About This Pipe
American artisan Trey Rice was introduced to pipes in college, quickly becoming enamored with the hobby and seeking to craft his own. Rice developed his skills largely on his own before learning with fellow artisan Tyler Beard, further honing his craft. Rice cultivates an eclectic style unified around the principles of clear form and functionality, drawing inspiration from other American artisans, as well as the great Danes and classic English marques.
This Apple is a fine example of Rice's work, featuring a bold, bowl-forward composition that emphasizes the broad base and plump walls thereof. Said bowl rests at the fore of a defined transition to a slim round shank that tapers toward silver military mount, joined to a beautifully hand-cut vulcanite saddle stem. Dressed in a rich auburn stain, the hearty bowl boasts fine flame grain around the walls, with dense birdseye at the rim and heel.
