About This Pipe
An interesting take on a classic, here; the bowl and shank proportions bring to my mind something by one of the young Greeks (said artisans turning out great classics these days), the bowl-form itself definitely shows a Danish neoclassic influence, with its long taper and very low waistline, and the shank-to-stem proportions remind me of Castello's distinctive penchant for making the former very long and the latter very short. As far as combinations go, it's quite a mix of new and old, and yet the sum has a very traditional sense of elegance about it; simple, unpretentious, and functional — a shape that's lovely in and of itself, with a fine piece of briar serving as the medium, rather than the focus of the design.
