About This Pipe
The most proportionally muscular and dramatically tapered straight Brandy in Rattray's portfolio, the "18" presents a broadly splayed waist with a crisp taper toward the rim. I find that the Brandy shape is one of the most ergonomically comfortable of classic shapes with the degree of upward taper directly proportional to that in-hand comfort. As such, Rattray's "18" conforms exceptionally well to wrapped fingers, and it remains visually balanced thanks to the stout shank matching the heartiness of the lower bowl.
Rattray's Newcastle line honors Newcastle upon Tyne, a cathedral city in England known for its industrial might and storied history. The defining trait of the Newcastle series is a shiny metallic accent, a nod to to its namesake's sophisticated architecture. Each pipe in the series is presented in one of three finishes: a dark sandblast, a terracotta smooth finish, or a grey smooth finish. This particular examples wears the grey smooth finish.
-Truett SmithNote: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.
