About This Pipe

For years, Missouri Meerschaum has collaborated with American blending house Cornell & Diehl to create special corn cob tobacco pipes elevated by stylish shaping and high-quality acrylic stems. Moreover, they honor C&D's Carolina roots and the Carolina region's deep tobacco history. Released in 2024, the Morganton Sleigh Ride celebrates the holiday season and Morganton, North Carolina.

Before relocating to South Carolina, Cornell & Diehl was based in Morganton, North Carolina, and Missouri Meerschaum's Morganton Sleigh Limited-Edition 2024 corn cob honors the blending house's decades-long reputation for producing quality pipe tobaccos. It features a cylindrical bowl embellished by a raised, "windshield" style rim that protects the chamber's contents from the wind. The shape is accented with a metallic band and topped by a high-quality acrylic stem.

Very happy with this purchase as I initially missed the first round but was blessed to rebound on the second right before Christmas. I went ahead and threw two in the cart and what came was two beautiful Christmas C&D/MM cobs, and fit and finish on both were spot on. In my experience, there’s only been one time where it’s been pretty shoddy cob work and that was on their “9mm” cob. That one was terrible! But even then I made it work! But that’s it. All the other cobs I’ve bought have been great. You really can’t mess up making a cob. I think whoever these Chinese are who bought these, we’re under some false pretense including some ridiculous expectations of what their first cob experience “was going to be”. You guys should’ve started your first cob with a Huck Finn. It’s about SIMPLICITY!! If you don’t get it now, you never will. Maybe you shouldn’t buy things just because it’s a limited edition and expect it to be something it’s not. I don’t buy a Daewoo and expect a Ferrari. All my cobs work for me. Every inch of them. And they smoke smooth, sweet and serene. Every time! Can’t say that about 98% of the things coming out of china. This is 100% American innovation. Something that was made out of the lack of money to buy, and the necessity to smoke. Not to mention the use of everyday resources that weren’t going to go to waste(albeit corn) to create something that equaled that of a clay or briar and wound up smoking even sweeter than both. This is American smoking ingenuity that introduced the pipe world to a new meaning of “Great Smoke”! There is a right and wrong way to appreciate things of and in this country. And I don’t go to your country and stand chopsticks up in my bowl when I’m done eating because that would be disrespectful. We don’t share the same unethical economic standards as your country, despite the late great unpleasantness of the last 4 years. Just got this great little smoker along with my Carolina Christmas tobacco which was a perfect pairing.
WONDERFUL inaugural smoke. Tobacco flavor came right through & smoked like a Missouri Meerschaum should.
Love the design and the shield worked great in a fairly stiff wind while working outside.
