About This Pipe

Missouri Meerschaum's aptly named Cobbit series (a playful portmanteau word of "cob" and "hobbit") features demi-Churchwarden corn cob pipes inspired by Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. This Shire shape features a rounded Acorn bowl and the Sapphire line's colorful stem of high-quality acrylic.

Note: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.

Not a good purchase

Product: Missouri Meerschaum Cobbit Shire with Sapphire Stem
The pipe was shipped with the stem inserted into the shank. When I received the pipe I allowed it to rest for two days due to the winter weather. I then attempted to remove the stem for a good look over. The stem would not separate. I attempted the freezer routine. No luck. The shank eventually separated from the bowl. So I’m going to toss it. Lesson learned. Sometimes you really do get what you paid for. Now back to my briars....Read More

2 smokes in and the shank cracked. Granted, MM pipes aren’t expensive by any measure, but I won’t be buying a cobbit model again.
Very disappointed.
First Cob

Product: Missouri Meerschaum Cobbit Shire with Sapphire Stem
I am a relatively new pipe smoker, actually just getting serious about it after casually piping for decades, and I am adding at least one of all the various styles and materials to my collection. This was my first cob and I was not disappointed. The quality was surprising good for such an inexpensive pipe and I had no problems disassembling or cleaning it. It smokes a little hot but really allows the flavours of various blends to come through. I had read that cobs don’t ‘ghost’ and I have certainly found this to be the case....Read More
