About This Pipe
This long-shanked Acorn is the first of its kind we've received from Jerry Zenn. It fits into the Taiwanese carver's organic and plump shaping style but features an elongated shank rather than the horn or bamboo shank extensions we usually see from Zenn. It's full of Danish style — the stretching, flaring, and slightly upward-turned shank hearkening to one of Lars Ivarsson's conventional design aesthetics. The shank, then, tapers into the transition, lending the bowl an even more rotund and poised nature. Almost Ball-like in regards to roundness, the bulbous top half tapers into a pointed heel spur, making for a striking silhouette that still maintains the bowl's muscularity. Furthering the Danish influence, it wears a low-profile sandblast, stained a deep, dark brown with purple-esque undertones to contrast against the refined silver ring at the shank end — an accoutrement we rarely see from Jerry.
