About This Pipe
One of the more Danish classical pieces in this initial batch of Jerry Zenn pipes, this straight Apple features a plump, softly contoured bowl set to a slight forward cant. The waistline has been set low and broad, with careful attention paid to the cheeking of the bowl around the transition, producing broad Heeschen-esque flanks that practically melt in hand. The slight lifting gesture to the heel lightens the full, heavy curves of the piece, and the rhythm between shank, bamboo, and stem is perfectly balanced. A note on the latter, Jerry uses unique Taiwanese bamboo root for his designs, and the warmer color and craggier style of knuckles really lend his compositions a delightfully organic flare. As for the finish, Jerry's lent the stummel a high-gloss, fiery contrast finish, accentuating the block's stunning 360-degree display of flame grain, as well as some mesmerizing whorls of birdseye along the underside. Beautiful take on the Danish classic from Jerry here.
