Smooth Morta Elf with Horn Tobacco Pipe

Brazilian craftsman Emanuel de Queiroz Emiliano's portfolio features a wide variety of shapes, ranging from expressive Freehands to familiar, traditional pieces, all of which commonly feature tasteful accents that further his distinct aesthetic. Although the Elf is one of Emiliano's signature shapes, we have yet to see one fashioned from Morta — a petrified bog oak prized for its resistance to heat and mesmerizing grain patterns. Shape-wise, this piece features an Egg-like bowl that stands on a sharp, Pickaxe-like heel and grows supple walls that rise to a sloped rim. A wide transition leaves plenty of room to place a digit and gives way to a flaring shank accented with a long stretch of genuine horn. Completing the profile is a sleek saddle stem of softly curved black vulcanite, one that is stylized with an expansion ring at its base. This particular rendition measures just under five inches long and maintains a light weight, ideal for on-the-go smoking. The stummel is dressed in a smooth finish, the naturally inky complexion of the morta complementing the accenting horn nicely.
