About This Pipe
Giacomo Penzo utilizes his experience in industrial design to craft pipes with striking aesthetic form and functional utility. His style draws influence from a range of sources, including the Danish, Anglo-French, and Italian schools of pipe design. In addition to crafting pipes under his own name, Penzo also works as the in-house pipe specialist for Peterson.
This Pickaxe from the Italian artisan is an exceptionally crisp take on the classic shape. The bowl's walls rise with a steady flare from the narrow, dramatically pointy heel to the oblong, inward-sloping rim. A low-set transition introduces a lengthy, arrow-straight shank out back, which is joined by a stylized saddle stem and decorated with a band of deer horn. The pale hue of the horn stands out strikingly against the stummel's inky sandblast, which reveals the briar's dense grain in striking detail. Eye-catching in both form and finish, this Pickaxe is sure to stand out on any pipe rack.
