About This Pipe

A straightforward and utilitarian rendition of the shape from the Canadian marque, this "22" Poker from Brigham is a classic iteration of the time-honored silhouette. Complete with a cylindrical bowl and an arrow-straight shank and stem, this pipe is ruggedly charming, its gavel-like outline lending it a muscular, stolid aesthetic. The transition here is mid-set on the bowl, with the comparatively sleek shank and stem contrasting the bowl's stout demeanor.

The Algonquin series draws inspiration from Canada's Algonquin Provincial Park and the calming serenity of nature. Using Brigham's highest-quality briar, the Algonquin series dresses pipes in a vivid chestnut smooth finish, showcasing a fetching array of grain. Offered in 12 different shapes, the Algonquin series exudes traditional appeal, and each pipe would make a fine addition to any smoker's regular rotation.

Like all of Brigham's lineup, this pipe also comes complete with the marque's signature Rock Maple Insert. This special insert comprises a rock maple dowel drilled with a 3.5mm airway and pressure-fitted in the tenon via a special metal cap, helping to remove moisture and unpleasant flavors that develop during the smoking process. No chemicals or adhesives are used to manufacture Brigham's Rock Maple Inserts, ensuring a flavor-neutral profile that doesn't interfere with the tobacco. Moreover, because of the drilling, the Rock Maple Insert is able to pass a pipe cleaner, even while the pipe is still assembled.

Note: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.

Product: Brigham Algonquin (222) (Rock Maple Inserts)
Disappointing. The pipe was listed as having a vulcanite stem, but it was shipped with acrylic (or the hardest vulcanite I’ve ever seen). It’s been many years since I tried an acrylic stem, so I thought maybe they have improved, and decided to give it a try. Nope. The many fills on the bowl are already falling out after 3 weeks. On the plus side, the stem is very well fitted. I know it is an inexpensive pipe ($84) and compromises must be made. But at least ship what is advertised. Disappointing....Read More
