About This Pipe
The tall and plump bowl of this Rhodesian from Bill Shalosky reveals an understated taper from the sturdy heel up to the single crisp beadline circling the bowl just beneath the precise inverse taper to the slightly chamfered rim. While the Bulldog shape is known for its structured form, the Rhodesian offers a curvaceous organicism, evident in this piece below the beadline. The parallel lines of that shank reach to the Fordite accent at its end, striated with the bright colors of hardened Ford automotive paint. The stem is a creamy off-white and made of Juma, a specialized resin particularly appropriate for this use and contrasting brilliantly with the very dark, traditional aspect of the stummel.
