About This Pipe

Take a look at Bill Shaoloky's pipes and you'll see a recurring design element of sweeping undercurve with natural and gradual evolution from one plane to the next. This Sparrow is a good example, with the forward bowl maintaining the underside's curvature in a natural parabola. The topside has a more pronounced angle at the transition, providing the same happy curvature for the bowl while effortlessly shifting to shank. You can barely feel the transition in the hand, though the bowl maintains its independence. The color palette is simple, light, and points to the near flawlessness of the briar, which is sandblasted in a low profile texture and highlights the remarkable grain that circles the bowl. The domed aspect of the mouthpiece at the shank is an excellent element echoing the curves of the stummel, then descending to the flat, saddle bit. Overall, it has an implied forward motion, unending curves to maintain your interest, and comfort in the hand that will make it difficult to let it rest between smokes.
