About This Pipe
Dublin-born artisan Austin Quinlan's designs are strongly influenced by the Anglo-French school of design. Leveraging his expertise in refurbishment, he creates impeccably crafted pieces that blend meticulous artistry with precise engineering. This Acorn, though rather compact, boasts a surprising muscularity— an element frequently seen in Quinlan's work. The strength of this design is evident in both the bowl and shank, which flare outward from the heel and transition, respectively. The bowl's walls rise from a lifted heel and widen toward a domed rim, evoking the shape of its namesake nut. The vulcanite stem, complementing the bold form of the flaring shank, achieves a harmonious balance. The stummel is dressed with an auburn-hued sandblast that accentuates rippling growth rings throughout.
