Smooth Blowfish (Crane) Tobacco Pipe

Abe Herbaugh is a highly regarded American artisan known for his skillful craftsmanship and unique aesthetic, which draws heavily from the Danish school of design. The Blowfish is one of the most versatile shapes in the pipe-making world, offering vast potential for creative experimentation based on the individual carver's personal vision. The Blowfish shape originated as a design to maximize the grain of a given block of briar, and this particular Blowfish by Abe Herbaugh achieves this in stunning relief. The bowl itself is characteristic of the Blowfish shape, featuring supple, flowing flanks that are bisected by a prominent central panel. This panel wraps around the bowl, giving it a distinct fishhead appearance in profile. The bisecting panel terminates at the transition, with its gentle lines extending into the bowl's flanks to create a clear demarcation between the bowl and the shank.
