About This Pipe Tobacco

The third entry in master blender Greg Pease's Zeitgeist Collection, Horizons Flake is an approachable, contemporary, and medium-bodied English blend that's excellently balanced to provide a consistent and delightful all-day smoke. Comprising a mixture of matured Red Virginias, Flue-cured Virginias, Turkish Latakia, and Oriental leaf, all pressed and sliced into flakes, Horizons boasts a sophisticated flavor profile that admirably balances rich smokiness with a gentle sweetness and an enticing spice.

About the Zeitgeist Collection: The Zeitgeist Collection is a pipe tobacco series from Gregory Pease that pays tribute to the avant-garde and rebellious themes of the modern era. Each carefully formulated pipe tobacco in this series evokes the spirit of a particular location, time period, or cultural milieu. This mixture, Horizons Flake, is inspired by jet-age retrofuturism, drawing on ideals of a way forward guided by the design principles and style of the late 1940s and 50s: with these sleek and hopeful visions of the future displayed across the tin art.

Excellent!

Product: G. L. Pease Horizons Flake 2oz
When I bought it, the production date was displayed as August 2024. It has been almost two years since the first defective product was purchased.
After ignition, the first sip feels a very good milky aroma, with moderate intensity when smoked, and a noticeable sweetness can be felt. Throughout th
e entire suction process, there will be no unnatural acceleration of breathing caused by being busy with other things, which can lead to rapid burning of weeds and produce unpleasant odors.
If we talk about the drawbacks, the combustibility is slightly lower.
It is very suitable to start a day by drawing a bucket in the morning. Overall, it is a very good fighting grass.

Product: G. L. Pease Horizons Flake 2oz
I'm not going to repeat the words of other reviewers they've said it better than I could. Bottom line This is a worthwhile and frankly an outstanding blend. The orientals used here are dryly tasty and the whole experience smacks of older days, high end with the imaginatory twist that GL p's excels at. For me this is not an all day smoke for me but it is a daily smoke. it's more of a gourmet experience for me., stretching the boundaries of what English Balkan blends can do. Younger brother of Quiet Nights

Product: G. L. Pease Horizons Flake 2oz
Quiet Night and Horizons have this unique note that I can only describe as powdered red brick (I know it's too abstract) that I thought was Acadian Perique in Quiet Nights, but apparently Horizons doesn't have it, so I don't know from what this gorgeous note comes from.

Just amazing smoke, n
ot as dense as Quiet Nights, but definitely not light to smoke in the morning. It demands attention; it asks for it in every puff and will not let you keep it in the background as you do other things.

I will not describe smoking qualities; by now, everyone should know that G.L. Pease tobaccos are just fantastic smokes. You need to try really hard to make smoke uncomfortable.

I'm 3 years through my pipe smoking journey, and I'm baffled that somehow Peterson's (notably ex-Dunhill) tobaccos are more popular than G.L. Pease. Especially when they cost more.

Rich and smooth.

Product: G. L. Pease Horizons Flake 2oz
Upon first light, Horizons initially tastes like a typical fuller English However, it quickly settles into something not only full…but also creamy, smooth, and somewhat sweet. It has notes of malt, bread, baking spices (more by implication), cherries, and a slight musty note. Maybe a touch of cocoa or coffee. I’d say it definitely has some complexity and nuance, but due to the pressing into flakes it all kind of melds together. The orientals do have a prominent peppery, zingy spice that leaves a tingling sensation on the tongue Overall I’m quite pleased by how creamy, sweet, and balanced this manages to be while also being a fuller smoke. I intend to keep it around in my rotation....Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Horizons Flake 2oz
This is deep and rich, but not overly full. Definitely has the dark rich English flavour but the latakia isn't overly strong and it doesn't have the strength taste wise of other Pease blends. This makes it really approachable and comfortable and suitable for various occasions.
