The 1844 Reserve Aperitifs are, as the name implies, H. Upmann's 1844 Reserve blend offered in cigarillo form, perfect for a coffee break, a post-lunch or pre-dinner smoke, or a jaunt down the street. They're offered in tins of six sticks each, with a Boveda 69% humidity packet included to keep them at their best.

Lets get the negatives away. The construction is ok. In some of sticks the wrapper loosened and unwrapped a little bit around the cap, and in one it was a little restricted draw wise. I don't believe you need a cutter for it. I just peel a little of the tobacco on top, by either squeezing the cap or pinching it off. It is made to be a on the go miniature cigar. The taste is quality, hints of leather, nuts, oak, and coffee grounds with a little spice on the retrohale that is satisfying. at the second half, it got a little stronger with more earthy notes dominating the stick. It isn't complex or a very transitional cigar, but it has a decent, well rounded flavour. The body is light-medium with some good nicotine kick. It lasted me about an hour of smoking it slowly, and mostly no double puffs, only when necessary to bring out the flavours. I can see that if you treat it like any other cigar, this could last around 25-40 mins Max. overall, This is good for the price, and considering only the flavour, it may be excellent for the price....Read More

It's 11pm, and I'm writing this because out of the 3 cigars I've tried so far, all 3 were plugged. The price does not justify the effort of unplugging them, and so I must say, sadly, this was a waste of money for me. I agree with other reviews. The flavor on these is good and enjoyable, but getting a good cut that doesn't have tobacco dangling and falling into your mouth is difficult. A number of mine fell apart easy. I ended up cutting all mine at home where I had the time and patience to get a good cut on them, then replaced them in wrappers to carry around for when I was ready to smoke....Read More

Really enjoy these cigarillos. Nice full flavour and a very good option for when you have only 30mins or so to enjoy a cigar. Construction let these down a bit, the cap is poorly made and tend to break or detach so particular care needs to be taken when cutting. Punch is not an option, you need a sharp straight cut. Once you get past the band, some of them, start to unwrap but is still smokeable. Overall a great smoke, just need a bit of assistance...Read More
