About This Cigar

From box and band design to blending, rolling, and flavor profile, Curivari cigars embody the Cuban cigar-making tradition, with founder and blender Andreas Throuvalas prioritizing Cuban-seed tobaccos grown in Nicaragua and hand-rolled construction. In honor of his Greek Heritage, though, Andreas incorporates Ancient Greek themes into his cigar lines, such as Curivari's Socrates. Named for the inimitable Greek philosopher, the Socrates cigar is as unpredictable as the legendary sage himself: While the binder and fillers consist of Curivari's typical use of Cuban-seed, Nicaragua-grown tobaccos, the wrapper is a dark San Andrés Maduro leaf from Mexico. Notes of cinnamon, earth, oak, leather, spice, and sweetness delight the palate, making the Socrates a delicious stand out in the context of Curivari's portfolio.

By the last quarter tiny lit pieces of the wrapper were peeling away and it looked like a flutter of bright little fairies stealing my cigar. Notes of earth and oak were predominant on the tongue and the smoke itself did smell of cinnamon, but to me there was definitely no sweetness. I have to agree with the advertised statement "the cigar is unpredictable." Jame...Read More
