A big pipe calls for a big tamper, and to that end we have this heavy-duty 8deco "Penner." Featuring a black acrylic fuselage with steel hardware and internals, it offers a vented tamper foot as well as an extra-long dottle scraper.

I have everything from the $2 drugstore tampers to vintage ones my dad and granddad had. Pap’s sassafras root with brass button end. This is by far my favorite. This is a nice tamper to have when wearing a suit. It looks right at home in your breast pocket or interior pocket. Since the tamper is contained within the body of the 'pen,' you don't have to worry about getting ash in your pocket or on your clothes. It's also a nice conversation piece. Here we go again, 8deco with a cool tamper. This one is off the charts. Very cool. I was immediately impressed by the high quality of materials and finish on what I thought would be a novelty item that I could continue happily smoking without. It IS a novelty, but man is this thing cool and just as practical of a pipe tool as the rest of 8deco’s tampers. Very pleased with this tamper. It has a wonderful feel in the hand, and is conducive to fidgeting. The awl is long and reaches the bowl from the shank of all my Canadians. The foot is large and the "pen" has enough heft that no pressure is necessary for tamping embers. It's one drawback is the lack of a "beavertail"; 8deco's unique spoon is a great tool for cleaning and ember manipulation. It's a small complaint; it is in all aspects a stylish product. I am a stylóphile, so this tamper is *the* perfect tamper for me. It has the weight and heft of a fine quality fountain pen, and can easily pass for one. My brother, also a fountain pen enthusiast, believed it was a pen when I gave him one as a gift. He was so impressed with the metal body pen, and then he unscrewed the cap to reveal a tamper. The cap does not post, as one reviewer here complains, but it doesn't need to because this is not actually a pen, it's a tamper. It does what it's intended to do. I love it. I have a few, one stays in its box for the collection, and one travels with me as EDC along with real pens. It's wonderful. Great gift idea for pipers who are also penners....Read More
