Sutliff - Creme Brulee
nice surprise
I tried this out just for something different. I'm glad I did. It has a very pleasant aroma very little bite. overall a nice smoke. I'm not too particular about what goes in my pipe. I'm much simpler than that. I try it. if its good, I'll get it again. if it's ok, ill have a couple more bowls, and go from there. If I really don't like it, I just say so, and move on. This one was pretty good from the beginning and still is. Give it a try.

I tried this out just because. Smoked ok, bit of a bite. But I could not get the aroma of the fresh tobacco to subside. It eventually became overwhelming enough that I tossed it out . Not too fond of this one.

pretty good stuff
I enjoyed this blend from the beginning. stocked up on it too. Not sure why, but one cool morning, I mixed a bowlful with a PINCH of latakia. BOOM!!! What an enjoyable smoke that was. I'm very fond of this blend as it sits, but every now and again, I mix a little again. Alone or my "home brew" I really enjoy this one.

had a friend give me a tin of this stuff for christmas. forgot about it for a few weeks and just found it ( right where i put it). Cold and lousy day, perfect for a pipe and a movie or book. So i opened this Carter Hall up for a try Outstanding aroma. Slightly damp, just right really. So i loaded up one of my Peterson's and lit him up. It was an extremely pleasant pipe, from beginning to end. Tasted nice, smoked well, even my dog, Bentley the Beagle seemed to like it.. Took a nap right next to my chair, which he seldom does. Little while later i thought i might just do this again. so i pulled out a different Peterson and tried again. Same reaction. This stuff is pretty good. Nice aroma, smokes well, no tongue bite. I do like to switch around my tobaccos, but this one stays close to my chair and my dog.:)

I have found this blend to be very pleasing for early evening enjoyment. fantastic aroma, smooth smoking, biteless tobacco. Comfortable, to me, such that i get a smile enjoying this stuff. Great with a coffee or iced tea. 4.5 because i have to let it dry out for a few minutes, not long , but a few. otherwise, it's very satisfying.

Tried this one a while ago. recently tried it again. I don't dislike it, smokes well, etc. but i get a tongue bite from it. otherwise, a fine smoke

very nice over some coffee, especially outside. cant explain that one. the touch of latakia, to me, is delightful. VERY pleasant smoke.

I had this stored away for awhile, actually forgot i had it. So last week I opened it up, took a bowl full, and found it to be a pleasing smoke. A little bit harsh for my taste, but not enough to stop enjoying. I'm about a third of my way through this can, and I plan to enjoy the rest. I'll probably buy it again,as well.

I got a tin of this from a friend for my birthday. I opened it right away and lit a pipeful. I was honestly impressed. Very mild, pleasant aroma, smoked all the way down to ash. Can't do much better than that.

To me, I'd have rated lower. BUT...I sent it to my son, who is a cigar smoker, and he really enjoys it. Cant say why I didn't care for it...just didn't. But he does, So 3.5.

How cas this be gone?
Some time ago i ordered this tobacco, and forgot I had it. I found it recently and tried it out. It was outstanding in every way. Smooth, fine aroma, really a pleasure. Now I tried to reorder and it's GONE. Whoever discontinued this must have never tried a bowl. VERY disappointed.

i agree with Andy H.'s review below. Very highly scented, to my opinion only, overwhelming. i had to keep this one in a closed container, Couldn't get away from the aroma. Didn't smoke too badly. though. Outside.

This blend is fantastic as it is. I also like Low Country Vanilla. So I took a pinch of this and a pinch of that, mixed them up, and unknowingly created the most pleasant blend I have ever mixed for myself. Nice aroma, nice flavor, smokes very well. Try this yourself. It's really satisfying.

i did not care for this blend. no real flavor, burned hot, wont stay lit for the first half of the bowl.i'm just not a fan of this one.

over the years, i have smoked many a cigar. the java mint is the most satisfying i have ever found. i switched over to a pipe about 6 years ago, but every now and again, i grab one of my stash of java mints, light up and totally enjoy.

i had this in my tobacco place and forgot about it. 3 days ago, i was going through my stash and found this 1M hidden away. Tried it out yesterday and it was just great. very satisfying taste, pleasant aroma, overall a really fine smoke. I'll get some more of this one.

a friend gave me this mix. he didn't like it. Smells ok in the tin, but after lighting, that stops! I don't care for it either. Just not flavorful at all. Just tasted like smoke.

I found this blend to be tasteful, no tongue burn, smoked thoroughly, and a wonderful aroma that I've had other pipe smokers comment on several times. It's outstanding in a corncob, but I tried it in a meerschaum and wish I hadn't. Tha raspberry aroma really ghosts in that particular pipe. Still, it's a fine smoke.

my opinion is far from others on this blend. I've been a pipe smoker for 61 years, and this is the WORST I've ever tried. Closer to dried tree bark. I'll give it one more shot, but can't be worse. I tried one more bowl. I was incorrect....it could get worse, and it did.

while i didn't find this blend quite as enchanting as described, it is still a pleasant smoke. I found a small to medium bowl better than a large one, it was a pleasant aroma, no bite, and a thorough burn. Pretty good stuff.

I got this in bulk and, while i was not displeased, i was not thrilled either. I found this blend "ho-hum". I may edit this after a few more bowls. Worth a try. 9/06 2024...never got better

a very pleasant, light smoking blend. Just enough latakia for my taste. Terrific aroma. A little dry, but stays fresh in the bowl. A mild tongue bite, but probably my own fault for drawing too quickly. I'm going to order more today.

re review
when i first tried E.G.R. i was not too sure. The latakia overwhelmed me at that time. So I put it on the shelf to try again "later". Later came about a year later, I tried it again and was VERY satisfied. This time i truly enjoyed enjoyed it. I'm not a huge Latakia fan, but this is a fine blend to me now. I'll get some more sometime soon.

This was a real treat for me. A little harsh, a mild bite, BUT smoked really well, stayed lit, smelled nice. All i could ask for and i'm pleased to have rediscovered it. Over time, i have become disillusioned with this blend. lately I find it harsh with a bad tongue bite. very unpleasant smoke. i took almost half of my container and donated it to my local dump. enough of this one for me.

i always enjoy L.L.blends. Have for a long time. BUT this one is not to my liking. Bitter...or sour...and harsh. Might be great, but just not for me :( An update.....I've grown to enjoy this. It's really pretty good. Must have been a bad day when I wrote my other review.

got as a gift, i appreciate the thought, but i found this very hard to pack, very hard to light, impossible to keep lit, and not really a good smoke. 2 stars because it smells nice in the tin. After several months of moistening, I tried it again, and its not so bad at all.

I found this to be a comfortable all day smoke. stays lit, a touch of tongue burn but not much, nice aroma. Pretty good stuff. update....a friend of mine gave me a 14 oz. prince albert as a gift. can't explain the difference, but the real prince was better than the duke. higher social standing, i guess. AWFUL. nice package, but the tobacco was horrible. did not smoke well, bad aroma, and left way too much oil goo in my pipe. Tried again, another day and different pipe.....same result. Smoke and learn. 9/13/23, I tried this two more times and ended up throwing it away. It's just not for me, I guess.

I am a fan of Peterson stuff. Early Morning Pipe among my favorites. THIS blend is SO CLOSE that I've gone all in on it. A delicious mixture, very satisfying, and cheaper. Very good smoke.

i opened a brand new tin of this yesterday. aroma was nice. BUT...DRY as dust. NO moisture whatsoever. very dissatisfied. Especially from a brand new, previously unopened tin. 9/23.... i moistened this tin (just a touch) and let it sit awhile. Better, but nothing to rave over. I'll finish this tin, because i bought it. After that, no more.

this looked like it could be fun, so i ordered one. when it arrived i opened him up tor a test run. Finished up, cleaned my pipe, went to the website and ordered 4 more so far. This is the one I must call my favorite. There are no mistakes here. A really big hit to me. It's the one smoke that I plan for. No calls, no mail, etc. Just me and my pipe. When I'm finished, all the worlds problem's are solved, and mind is cleared for the next several hours. THIS IS THE STUFF, for me. Can't define it, it just is 100% pleasure and relaxation. I've been a pipe smoker for over 50 years, tried all types of cuts and blends. But, having found this one, I'm done.

strange occurance
I really enjoy this tobacco, smoke a pipeful almost every day. I smoke many different tobaccos, but only this one draws wasps to my deck. not to harm, they just fly around. And NO other tobacco does this. I guess wasps enjoy it as much as I do...…..9/13/23, the wasp thing is really strange. I have NO wasps at all until I smoke this blend. It's been happening all summer long and never fails. Amazing Just got through a hurricane. pleasant day, no bugs, nice breeze, even 2 hummingbirds. Sat out back, lit a pipeful of & seas, and out come the wasps again. They sure do love this stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently acquired a Savinelli Bing Crosby pipe and ordered this tobacco just to try in this pipe. It's not the best tobacco but I smoke the pipe and this tobacco when I'm golfing. I should stop playing golf and just go home and enjoy my pipe!

Many years have gone by since I last tried S.W.R. Why I ever gave this up is a mystery to me. Not harsh, smokes down to ash, no bite and very pleasant aroma. Can't do much better that that.
