Carter Hall - Carter Hall 14oz
Timeless classic.
It's abundantly clear why this tobacco has stood the test of time. It's a smooth, one note smoke of nutty, earthy burleys with a very light, sweetness that doesn't come off as artificial. A great all day smoke.

Cornell & Diehl - Sun Bear Black Locust 2oz
Aged 2 years.
The freshly popped tin, aged 2 years, has a strong aroma of apricot. Might benefit from a little drying time as it does come quite moist, but you can load and light it as is. First light delivers hints of honey and hay, as does the first third along with fragrant, woody, Orientals, and notes of stone fruits, and a pleasant sweetness. The second third continues the same with the high notes of hay and honey taking a backseat, and more bass notes of wood and stone fruits, growing depth. The final third may require a few relights, and the woody, fragrant Orientals become more dominant as the sweetness becomes more of an aftertaste. 5 out of 5 stars.

Rivertown Tobacco Works - Crimson Shadow
Fantastic new bulk option
In a market that significantly dwindled in terms of options due to the void left by Sutliff/Mac Baren, Crimson Shadow helps fill the void with a quality offering from C&D. The red Virginias offer the familiar bready, slightly tangy dark fruit notes, while the cavendish rounds out the flavor on the palate, softens the blend, and adds a bit of sweetness. I actually prefer this slightly over Sutliff's Matured Red Virginia, as it's just a tad less one dimensional. No bite, and doesn't get warm. Very solid.

Amphora - Original Blend 1.75oz
A delightful smoke.
The virginias are hay and a touch of honey, yet they're overshadowed by the nutty sweet burleys that lend a slight note of cocoa. The kentucky is wood and leather with a slight bit of spice, and becomes more noticeable as the bowl burns past mid-point. I don't detect much from the turkish. The chocolate topping is delicate and barely there, adding a little extra something and complimenting the natural flavors, while the cavendish smooths things out nicely. If you enjoy a good burley blend, then you'll love this tobacco, absolutely. 4 out of 5 stars.
